By far, the best pizza in NYC. Pies only, no slices. Great service and beer selection. Quaint atmosphere.

We'd heard good things about John's of Bleecker Street, and the lineup outside the place seemed to back up the hype around the joint. The line moved pretty quickly, thankfully, and it wasn't long before we landed a spot on their covered patio. A quick perusal of their menu led us to The John's Original ("Mozzarella, Tomato Sauce & E.V.O.O."), and we figured we'd better munch on something healthy as well, so we also got John's House Salad ("Fresh Romaine Lettuce, Mushrooms, Red Onions, Grape Tomatoes topped with our homemade vinaigrette dressing"). The food arrived a short time later and it was all exactly what we wanted. The pizza was piping hot and loaded with delicious cheese and zesty tomato sauce, while the impressively large salad was packed with fresh, tasty components and an almost addictive vinaigrette dressing. It's not difficult to see why John's of Bleecker Street remains so popular, as they're obviously churning out top quality food on a regular basis.

We've been wanting to try this place for a while because every time we walk by there is a huge line. We finally gave it a shot a couple weeks ago and were pleased to find out that the line moves really fast. One thing to note is that they only serve whole pies - no slices. They also charge per topping, so if you like a lot of toppings on your pizza it will add up pretty quickly. The pizza itself was pretty good - super thin crust, New York style pizza.

Best Pizza in New York! The only coal fired oven pizza since 1929. Thin crispy crust Napolitan style. We sat at our favorite table in the window by the sidewalk to watch the Greenwich village show. We had the Picante. It had pepperoni and hot cherry peppers . It was wonderful.

OK, so let me cut to the chase...does John's make the best pizza in New York City? Well, hell, why ask an ignorant out-of-towner like me? An informed opinion probably has a lot to do with which pizza you order. But first, you'll probably be in line for a spell. We waited just for twenty minutes and were able to score a booth etched with people's names and other graffiti. There are appetizers, sandwiches, and even pasta on the menu, but you come here for the pizza. They've been serving it since 1915 so they know what they're doing. I'm sure true John's customers know exactly what to order because you can mix and match all the toppings any which way you want. We decided to go for one of their specialty pizzas. The $34.28 16-inch Piccante Pizza intrigued us because it featured cherry peppers, pepperoni, garlic, and red pepper (photo: https://yelp.to/l5qxNJC-nB). While the bubbling cheesiness and charred crust were pleasurable, the spiciness overwhelmed us as the cherry peppers had major zing. We know better for next time. They only sell pizzas whole, no slices. I like that. FOOD - 4 stars... yowza, that was one spicy pizza pie AMBIANCE - 4 stars...lived-in comfort with a lotta families and kids SERVICE - 4 stars...pretty fast turnover here TOTAL - 4 stars...is it the best pizza in NYC? Excellent NY style pizza. We showed up at 11:10 on a Saturday morning to be first in line for their 11:30 opening time. By the time they opened, the line was 30 people deep. We ordered a 14" traditional with half cheese half pepperoni for $24 and the Boom Pie specialty 14" for $32. The specialty pizza was not worth $32 but you get away with it when people are lined up outside your door. Glad I experienced John's once but I don't feel the need to go back.

Great tasting pizza with awesome service and an old school NYC pizzaria dining experience. Check out the view of the coal fired pizza oven from your table! With no reservations be prepared to wait in line. But it is worth the wait! We all agreed the sausage and pepperoni was one of the best we've had in any USA city.
